Introduction:

The Manitoba Focus is produced quarterly and mailed to 10,000 business leaders, government officials and community organizations throughout the province.

As such, it has the largest circulation of any business magazine in the province. The Manitoba Focus is also posted on the MCC website.

The Manitoba Focus reports on MCC activities and serves a wide range of your needs: promoting your company, providing entrepreneurial insights, helping you keep your finger on the pulse of what is happening in this province, giving you a heads up on legislation that may affect you, and promoting your local community.

Go to ‘The Sections of the Focus’ to find out how each regular feature serves those needs, how you can contribute material and how you can increase your profile.

Note: you do not have to advertise in the Focus to be featured (although your advertising would be welcome as it helps make the magazine possible). As well, although we give preference to covering our members, if yours is a compelling story of entrepreneurial spirit and/or community values we will profile you. Why? Because even though you may not be a member, you reflect our members’ values.

The Sections of the Focus:

Ahead of the Curve:

Each issue profiles a company that is on the cutting-edge of innovation, human resources, management, communications, safety or sustainability.

If you have an idea for this feature, email doverall@mbchamber.mb.ca.

Manitoba Matters:

This section is a bulletin board of news and notes relating to our province and its business community.

If your business has reached a milestone, received recognition or achieved something that it would like posted, email doverall@mbchamber.mb.ca.

Postcards from the Business Edge:

An effort to highlight our corporate members, this feature involves a half-page creative photograph of the head of a small to medium-sized business.

The key elements of the picture (especially the head of the company) are off to the side so that we can include the following text:

  • Business name, address and website
  • A one sentence description of what the business does
  • One sentence on the business’ claim to fame, or something it is very proud of, and
  • One or two sentences of business wisdom/advice that could help other entrepreneurs

If your business is a small to medium-size corporate member of the MCC and you would like to be part of Postcards from the Business Edge, send your picture and the required information to doverall@mbchamber.mb.ca.

Diary of an Entrepreneur Column:

MCC corporate members are invited to contribute columns outlining some of the joys, successes, struggles, issues and activities they experience over a one to three month period. The column is in a diary-like format, and provides a candid, inspiring, informative look at what it is like to be an entrepreneur ‘in the trenches’.

This column is a great way to simultaneously promote your organization while providing other entrepreneurs with insights they need to enhance their success.
