Located in Swan River, Manitoba, Swan Valley Credit Union (SVCU) serves residents, businesses and producers in the Swan River Valley region. Based in a major agricultural and forestry area, SVCU has assets of over $230 million and serves a membership base of over 9,000. SVCU supports Tigers Credit Union, a student-operated location in the local high school, and also owns Swan Valley Insurance Group, a full-service agency serving the region from three locations.
Swan River is a modern, progressive community situated between the beautiful Duck and Porcupine mountains, with medical facilities, K-12 schools, a University College of the North regional campus, and an abundance of recreational activities, including an 18-hole golf course, indoor pool, curling rink and a hockey arena.
Reporting to and working with the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for the overall direction of the credit union’s human and financial resources, as well as implementing the strategic direction for the credit union and creating an environment that facilitates change, vision and team-building.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader with strong business acumen, coupled with a genuine interest in community involvement. The successful candidate will be able to clearly articulate an inspiring, compelling vision; display a dedication to exceed member expectations; and be energized by facing challenges head on. Being an effective communicator with the ability to develop, direct and motivate others, while retaining a high-performing team, is critical to your success in this position. If you possess an approachable, values-based leadership style, you may be right for SVCU. The Board of Directors is looking for an individual who has demonstrated their expertise in planning, setting and accomplishing priorities. The ability to anticipate opportunities in the future and make them happen, along with the willingness to use the expertise of others are assets to this position.
The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary degree in a related field and/or an accounting designation, and will possess over ten years of senior management experience, preferably in a financial institution.
