ACC Releases Strategic Plan For Coming Years
Assiniboine Community College (ACC) released its strategic plan with a bit of a twist today. The college held a hockey-themed session called “The Game Plan” during the annual Staff Development day, designed to motivate staff and faculty in the implementation of the strategic plan. The plan was also released to the general public through the college’s website.
The Game Plan outlines the college’s mission, vision and values, along with seven key goals and fifteen objectives it is aiming to meet by 2012.
“This is a great opportunity for ACC to reach out to staff and faculty and the community to help us achieve our goals in the coming years,” says Jack Moes, Associate Vice-President, Research and Innovation. “Many of the college’s goals and objectives are already underway, ranging from building stronger community partnerships in the region, to expanding the Parkland Campus in Dauphin, to establishing a justice institute for Manitoba.”
“This is an ideal time for the college to outline a strategic direction, as ACC is in the midst of a major campus relocation to the former site of the Brandon Mental Health Centre. Phase two of the three phase project is scheduled to open in September 2010,” says Jim Brinkhurst, Interim President. “The relocation presents an opportunity to ensure that the college is well-positioned to respond to the challenges presented by changing demographics, workforce needs, and technology.”
The plan will be reviewed annually by senior management and the Board of Governors and face regular monitoring and environmental scanning to make sure the college is moving forward and being accountable.
“Ensuring the Game Plan is effective as a guiding document for the college is also an important part of the process,” says Moes.
Members of the public can access additional information and a pdf copy of The Game Plan on ACC’s website at www.assiniboine.net/thegameplan.
